Welcome to Bramblewood Tree Nursery! We’re a small tree nursery, with a mission to help make edible, resilient landscapes accessible for everyone. We specialize in hardy, seed-grown, bare-root trees suited for Coastal British Columbia climates. Our focus is on fruit and nut trees for human consumption, animal feed and forage, and nitrogen-fixing companion trees.

As advocates for permaculture, we believe in nurturing ecosystems that are beneficial to both people and the planet. We grow our trees in the ground so they develop healthy natural root systems and dig them when they are dormant in the fall. By selling our trees affordably and offering discounts on larger orders, we hope to make it easy for individuals and communities alike to plant more, grow more, and enjoy the rewards of sustainable, homegrown food sources.

Please note, Bramblewood is just getting started, and so is this website! We appreciate your patience as we refine our processes and expand our offerings. Currently, we operate by appointment only and offer pickup at the nursery in Merville on Vancouver Island—we don’t ship trees at this time.

We respectfully acknowledge that the land we grow on is on the Unceded Traditional Territory of the K’ómoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land.

We’re excited to share this journey with you and look forward to helping you plant the future! Thank you for supporting Bramblewood Tree Nursery.

With a lifelong passion for crop diversity and plant breeding, Greg has dedicated his career to exploring how agriculture shapes our landscapes and our future. His academic journey, culminating in a PhD focused on hybrid breeding systems, deepened his understanding of how scientific innovation can transform food systems. Over the years, he has worked across diverse fields, from large-scale seed companies to pioneering research in underexplored crops.

Through it all, Greg has become convinced that perennial agriculture holds the key to a sustainable, resilient future. At this nursery, this belief drives everything we do—offering trees that nurture abundance while regenerating the land. Together, we can cultivate a world where agriculture harmonizes with nature.

Lastly, meet Ruby, the nursery's most enthusiastic team member! A lively Labradoodle with boundless energy and a love for fetch, Ruby brings a unique kind of joy to the work we do. While crop diversity isn’t her forte, she excels at greeting visitors, chasing balls, and occasionally appearing in photos as a cheerful scale reference—standing about 2.5 feet tall. Whether bouncing through the trees or lounging in the sun, Ruby is a constant reminder to enjoy the simple pleasures of life outdoors.
